eLabFTW is an open-source laboratory management system and electronic laboratory notebook.

Designed by researchers, for researchers, with usability in mind.

On 22 September 2025, the GLIM-BioData and CIMAR-LA Research Data Management Centres will organise a practical training session on eLabFTW.
The session will take place at CCMAR, University of Algarve (Gambelas Campus, Building 1, Room 0.10, Faro), and is aimed at researchers, laboratory technicians and data managers.

The main features of eLabFTW will be covered — experiment documentation, inventory management, and team collaboration tools — to help you adopt best practices in data management and reproducibility.

The course will have the following structure:

1. GLIM/Biodata.pt presentation
2. Introduction to eLabFTW and ELNs lecture
3. Practical demonstration of eLabFTW and guided practice
4. Additional tasks, Q&A and conclusion

Trainers: Bruno Louro, Maria Paola Tomasino, Luciana Peixoto

Technical requirements: Participants must bring their own laptop.

This course is free of charge, but registration is required and it is limited to a maximum of 20 participants.
